Federation of Israeli Medical Students

The Federation of Israeli Medical Students (FIMS) represents approximately 4,500 medical students across Israel, serving as the sole organization advocating for their interests and professional development. As a unifying body, FIMS is dedicated to fostering a supportive and enriching environment for future medical professionals, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges of a dynamic and evolving medical field.

FIMS is a prominent member of the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA), a global network representing over 1.5 million medical students from 136 countries. Through our active participation in the IFMSA, we engage with international peers, exchange knowledge, and collaborate on various global health initiatives. This involvement not only amplifies the voice of Israeli medical students on the world stage but also allows us to bring valuable insights and best practices back to enhance our local efforts.

A key responsibility within the international community is overseeing the Israeli Youth Delegate Program to the World Health Organization (WHO). This prestigious program allows young Israeli medical students to participate in WHO meetings, contributing to global health discussions and decisions. By facilitating this program, FIMS ensures that the perspectives and expertise of Israeli youth are represented in critical global health forums, fostering a new generation of leaders in public health.

FIMS is also a founding member of the Global Jewish Health Alliance, dedicated to uniting Jewish healthcare professionals worldwide, advocating for their interests, and promoting collaborative efforts to address health disparities and challenges faced by Jewish communities. Through this alliance, FIMS contributes to a collective effort to improve healthcare outcomes and advance medical knowledge, while also combating discrimination and antisemitism in the healthcare sector.

Our organization is driven by a mission to support the academic and professional development of medical students in Israel. We organize various events, workshops, and conferences aimed at enhancing medical education, promoting research, and fostering a sense of community among students. Our initiatives also focus on addressing pressing issues such as gender-based violence, LGBTQ+ health, and humanitarian efforts, reflecting our commitment to social responsibility and ethical medical practice.

FIMS's work is made possible by the dedication of its members and the support of our partners. Together, we strive to create a brighter future for healthcare in Israel and beyond, ensuring that our medical students are well-equipped to become compassionate and competent healthcare professionals. Through our diverse programs and initiatives, FIMS remains at the forefront of medical student advocacy and global health engagement.
