LTC Dr. Carmel Kalla is the Head of the Clinical Branch within the Mental Health Department of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). In this capacity, he oversees and coordinates treatment processes for complex psychiatric cases within the IDF. Dr. Kalla earned his M.D. from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and completed his clinical residency in adult psychiatry at Hadassah Medical Center. Following his residency, he served as the Chief Psychiatrist for the Southern Command and the Chief Psychiatrist for the Israeli Air Force (IAF). His research interests include suicide among young adults, high functioning autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
